Roofing Day

The roofers begin with a center strip on top of a six-foot ice guard at the lower edge of the roof. One man then works up each side of the completed area. This makes for real speed in the process.

Two more roofers attack the north side and the connecting lower roof, which has ridge vents and vent pipes for the bathroom.

The whole job is completed in a long half day. The crew evidenced long experience, and the air nailers along with pre-placed bundles of shingles, really shorten this job as compared to the old days.

Our bush lilac in the back yard is preparing to burst into bloom. This is Lilac Sunday in Highland Park in Rochester. We have our own little display with this bush and two other lilac trees in the side yard.
