Another possum

We've caught another possum in the barn -- at least we're pretty sure it's not the same one we caught and released the other day.

Our advice for when the possum doesn't enter the Have-a-Heart trap:  Put food scraps in the bottom of a garbage can that's too tall for the possum to climb back out.  This possum is partial to baked winter squash.

Millie and the possum

The feral kitty that moved into our barn last January is still with us.  "Millie" is happy to have food brought to her twice a day, but still isn't accepting any petting or touching of any kind.

She's had some competition for any food left out for her, and it became obvious that we had a visiting possum.

After a few days of leaving grapes, apples and pears in a Have-a-Heart trap, the possum was captured in the trap.

The possum doesn't look too happy about his ride in the back of the car.

We drove to a wooded area a couple of miles away and released the possum, and he scurried away without letting me get much of a picture.

We're hoping he doesn't find his way back to our barn....

For the relatives

These pictures are for all our relatives and friends living in warmer climates!

The heavy wet snow has squashed the bushes around the deck and fish pond.

It's the first sticking snow of the season and looks pretty on the trees.

Meeting day

Pat, Nancy, Bev, Mary, and Priscilla joined me for our regular "Peeps" (Art Quilt People) meeting.

Pat has a large piece in progress, where she's working from sketches and mock-ups.

Mary showed us this piece that she did for a challenge using embellishments and one yard of fabric.

Mary also brought in the pieces she did for the Journal Project several years ago.

Priscilla had lots of books, patterns, and yarns left over from her downsizing to her new house that she brought in to share with the Peeps.

And much of what was left over filled the trunk and seats of Nancy's car for her to deliver to Craft Bits and Pieces.

Exciting news

I was contacted by the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, KY, and they have purchased Jet Trails #10 for their permanent collection.

The quilt's selection was coordinated with the Bank of Paducah, which has arranged for the quilt to be displayed in their newly renovated facilities for a year before it is returned to the Museum's collection.

The quilt is currently displayed in the Bank's main lobby, where I'm hoping many people will get to see it.

Sewing Day

Nancy and Jeanne came for a sewing day and worked on projects they have in progress.

Jeanne recently attended a two-day workshop on marbling at the Schweinfurth Art Center taught by Elin Noble, and she showed us samples of some of the pieces she made.

These are some of the wonderful fabrics that Jeanne bought from Elin.

Visiting Priscilla

Priscilla has downsized and moved to this lovely house.  I made a short visit to Binghamton to check out her new digs.

The back yard includes a patio area, storage shed and wonderful big trees.

But the most import and best part of the house is the finished basement, which Priscilla is transforming into her sewing/studio space!

Her son-in-law stopped in to lend a hand, and set up some new shelving which will hold some of her fabric.
