Water line - part 2

The water line trench makes the turn around the barn. Jim and Matt watch the progress as the excavator continues to dig. Notice the wide tracks which operate independently and give the huge machine amazing mobility and the ability to turn on a dime.

One of the tracks has slipped completely off the digging machine. The operator, Larry, along with Jim and Matt, and Bill, survey and discuss the problem. One of the things that men do best is stand around and talk about "what should we do now." Marcia suggests that if four women were involved, there would already be a solution and repairs in progress.

Three more men arrive with repair materials and add their ideas to the mix. They came by phone call to Larry's office, Art Graff Excavating in Newark, NY, who is the owner of the big rig.

The big rig begins to repair itself as owner-operator, Larry, guides the shovel and lifts the track back into place. The track weighs hundreds of pounds and must be nudged back into place over various sprockets and guide wheels.

When my back patio was being installed I set up several chairs under the nearby three for the men to sit in while they "discussed" the work at hand or just "supervised" the process.
