Getting ready for class

Priscilla Kibbee will be here at the studio this week for a 3-day jacket class, and I've been busy trying to decide what fabrics to audition for a new jacket.

The embroidered piece on the left is a Chinese collar which I am considering for the back of the jacket. The hand embroidered and hand woven piece on the far right is from Vietnam and could become sleeves.

These two molas are both possibles for the fronts of the jacket, selected because I think the designs could be cut apart.

This is a stack of possible coordinating cotton fabrics from my stash.

And this is wonderful Hmong batik. It's only about a foot wide, but very long. I've washed it several times to try to minimize the crocking.

Of course, the last time I went through this process, the jacket morphed into something entirely different than planned, with only a tiny bit of the originally selected fabrics. So.. we'll see!!!
