Spaghetti Sauce - Day 2

The fully-cooked vegetables are ready for processing. The old hand-driven strainer separates the pulp from the juice. The sauce collected in the blue kettle at the bottom of the picture is ready for several more hours of boiling to thicken the final product.

Inspector Suki closely monitors the whole process. While she was pleased to have the family working outdoors, she was not happy that we did not make the central focus of the event to be the production of entertainment for the kitty!

The sauce returns to the stove for more processing. It boiled down for most of the afternoon as the delightful aroma filled the house!

The sauce is bottled, sealed, and placed in a hot-water boil for 20 mintues. Part of the end result is pictured here -- 28 quarts of tasty tomato sauce to add to the larder. A job well done!!
