Winter flowers

Our  "Christmas" cactus has just started blooming.  The cactus decides when its Christmas blooms should appear.  It certainly seems appropriate as the spirit embodied in the occasion should pertain any time of the year.

Jewel orchids:  These plants display stalks of white miniature orchids reaching skywards.  New branches appear for a long period of time.

This display heightens the reach of the floral display.  The flower is particularly visible in contrast to the dark green leaves.

This has been a very hardy specimen, lasting for more than 15 years since we carried it home from Fairchild Gardens in Miami, FL.
