More possums

We found two more possums in the barn -- at least I don't think they are the same ones we caught once already...   And this rude fellow was making himself comfortable in Millie's bed in the manger of one of the horse stalls!

This one got away from us, but Bill managed to trap one in a garbage can for relocation tomorrow.  We're beginning to wonder how more are living in the barn...

yes, does make you wonder how many more of the little buggers there are! ...maybe Millie doesn't mind having the company!

I don't know if she likes their company, but she seems a bit upset that they want her food and now her bed too!!

I saw a show on PBS a while back saying that possums are the cause of lots of diseases for feral cats, like rabies, since they tend to compete for the same resources and possums are a lot nastier and fight harder than cats do.

We had that problem with possums in Webster! They took over the heated cat bed of our kitty and even chasing with a broom didn't help. We also had a cat in Batavia who was bitten badly by one!

I'll be a lot happier (and I think Millie will be too) if we can capture and relocate any that are still living around the barn. We trapped Millie this spring, and our vet spayed her and gave her all her shots, so she has some rabies protection currently.
