Studio Visitors

Nancy, Priscilla, Bev and Jeanne are checking out the start of some new work that Pat brought in.

Pat also showed us some new surface design work that she's been doing.

Bev showed us her current composition that she has pin basted and has made a start on the quilting.

Suki is very happy that we now have a flat screen TV in the studio, since it gives her access to perch on the cable box -- where it's warm and she's partially hidden behind the TV.

Sewing Day

Priscilla, Beth, and Jeanne ventured to the studio on Sunday for some serious sewing time.

Jeanne worked on the piece on the far design wall, inspired by a fence in a park near her home.

Priscilla is working on the psychedelic side of her leaf composition.

The green/brown fabrics on the wall and cutting table are destined for Beth's "lions" composition.

Jeanne has the start of a composition with a nine-patch format uisng some of her discharged fabrics.

Her beautiful blue shibori-dyed piece is being considered for another composition.

Jeanne also showed us some commercial fabrics that were made with some wonderful gradations.

Fashion Show

Priscilla Kibbee was the featured speaker at the March meeting of the Genesee Valley Quilt Club, and she presented a wonderful show of just a few of the many fantastic jackets and other garments she has made.

These five outfits are some of the garments Priscilla made for competition in the Bernina and Fairfield Fashion Shows.   Priscilla travels all over the world, collecting textiles and embellishments during her trips, many of which are included in her garments.

To see the complete show, follow this link for pictures that Beth took:

Sewing Day

Priscilla is checking her pattern for her latest quilt project on leaves, and Beth is starting the background for her newest quilt on lions.

Priscilla takes a break from her project to see if she can pet Suki's paws before Suki grabs her fingers.....

Priscilla is making great progress on building the colorful side of her quilt, and Beth created some background fabric from her greens and browns.

Suki had been "hiding" on Priscilla's chair, but decided to check out where everyone was going at the end of the day.

Sewing Day

Beth spread out her pattern for her Lions quilt so she could continue marking it, and as you can see, Suki was being very helpful in holding it in place.

Priscilla continued work on her leaves.

And Nancy Crouch joined us and was getting some advice on adding shoulder pads to her lovely jacket.

Nancy made this jacket last fall, and it was included in Wearable Art in Upstate NY exhibit that Priscilla and I curated for the Pennsylvania National Quilt Show in October.

Jet Trails #9

This smaller Jet Trails piece was started last summer and was composed with fabrics that had been fused with WonderUnder.

Here's how it developed:

1. Picking out some colors.

2. Starting to lay out some of the trails.

3. More trails and arranging the blocks.

4. It's finished at 36" high X 22" wide. Quilting lines were added to the ends of each of the trails.

Sewing Day

Beth and Priscilla ventured out to the studio for a little sewing time while the weather was clear and before we braced for another 10 -12 inches of snow.

Beth is marking her pattern for her "lions" quilt.

Priscilla has made a good start on a new quilt she's composing from a pattern that she drafted and enlarged.  She has a great selection of fabrics to pick from on her table, but we really like the shibori-dyed fabric she has on the wall.

When the quilters leave the studio, Inspector Suki feels the need to explore any items left behind.  Here, she has jumped into a tall bag that Priscilla left by her table.

And, of course, it didn't take long for her to knock the bag over and make it more comfortable for her to see out.

It was another snowy day here, which limits her outdoor explorations, but she has managed yet again to locate some indoor possible attractions.

Studio Activity

The studio was very busy, with the visitors working on various projects they had brought with them.
From the left -- Pat, Priscilla, Bev, Nancy, and Jeanne.

Jeanne brought a wonderful library book on visual textures that we all got a chance to review.    And Bill stopped by to see what was under discussion.

Jeanne was creating a large template for a design she's been working on.

And Pat was finishing the binding on another new quilt she had just completed.

Animal Sightings

Suki settles on top of all spots in the studio.  Here she ignores her brown towels behind her and curls up comfortably on a pile of scraps.  She would like something to do as she waits for Spring.

Inspector Suki settles on top of the warm Drobo (that backs up the computer) as she inspects some of Marcia's latest work.  She believes in creature comfort as she goes about her self-decided series of tasks.

A male pheasant explores his turf as he stakes out the territory outside the studio doors.

Suki watches the process from inside, but shows no desire to contest this invasion on her property.

We wonder if the fox and the pheasant will share the same range.  We'll see!
